SAMBALPUR STUDIES IN LITERATURES AND CULTURES (SSLC )
SSLC is a peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Department of English, Sambalpur University. This journal invites full-length scholarly essays on culture, society, art, literature, and Translation Studies. It insists on originality, analytical rigour, and insightfulness of the essays. It also invites book reviews and interviews. The journal seeks to provide a unique platform for both creativity and critical analysis. The fundamental idea of the SSLC is interdisciplinarity. It also encourages authors and researchers to engage within and beyond the humanities as a discipline. The journal insists on originality, analytical rigour, and insightfulness of the essays. It also invites book reviews and interviews.​​ The journal accepts the principles of OPEN ACCESS. It fosters global exchange of knowledge and ideas.​ All content published in Sambalpur Studies in Literatures and Cultures is licensed under Creative Commons. All submissions to SSLC undergo screening and a Blind Peer Review process.

THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH, SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY
Over the years the Postgraduate Department of English, Sambalpur University, has emerged as a well-known centre for English Studies in Odisha. It has also made its mark at the national level. It has been one of the few English departments in the country to introduce a full paper on Computer Application in Literary Studies at the postgraduate level. The department is equipped with a well-stocked seminar library, a computer laboratory and an audio-visual unit to cater to the needs of the students. The department brings out a peer-reviewed journal, Sambalpur Studies in Literatures and Cultures and also publishes a monograph series entitled Occasional Paper on Literatures and Cultures. The Department invites distinguished academics to present papers at seminars and teach Postgraduate and M.Phil. courses.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY
The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on 10 December 1966 to fulfill long long-cherished dream of the people of Western Odisha for establishment of a University. The University started functioning from 01 January 1967 with Prof.Parsuram Mishra as the first Vice Chancellor. The University was inaugurated on 04 January 1967 by Hon'ble Chancellor A.N.Khosla. The University started functioning in 1967 in a rented private building at Dhanupali, Sambalpur and in Government building at Ainthapali, Sambalpur from 1968 - 72. In the year 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla.
The territorial jurisdiction of the University covers 6 districts of the state of Odisha namely Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Boudh and Athamallik Sub-Division of Angul District.
